A fire that spread to homes in Throgs Neck left a firefighter and a police officer with minor injuries.

The FDNY said it started at 321 Brinsmade Ave. around 11 p.m. Friday. Residents entered their homes on Saturday, trying to salvage what they could after the fire left damages to the homes exterior and belongings inside.

The third-alarm fire quickly spread to 319 Brinsmade Ave. leaving damages to windows and ceilings.

"We don't even know where to start," said Cecilia, who has lived there for more than 20 years. She was home with her husband and kids when the fire broke out.

Officials said it took 140 firefighter and EMS personnel to get the fire under control. The efforts left a firefighter and police officer with minor injuries. Both officials were taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi.

The Red Cross told News 12 they have registered two households for emergency assistance, including financial assistance and temporary lodging.

It was not immediately clear what sparked the fire.
