Three firefighters were treated for injuries after battling a large fire at a gardening supply storage building Wednesday morning in Glen Head.

"You could smell it down the street, you could see it down the street," said Corey DiGiacomo, who works nearby.

The fire was reported just after 8 a.m. at Big Valley Nursery along Cedar Swamp Road.

"I believe we went to four alarm, there was extensive fire throughout the building," said Glenwood Fire Chief Donald Sinski.

About a dozen fire departments responded, sending roughly 150 firefighters to the scene as the fire escalated to a fourth alarm.

Officials said the fire was brought under control within two hours.

The storage building at the nursery sustained severe fire damage, and portions of the building collapsed.

No civilian injuries were reported.

Officials said there are no air quality concerns for nearby residents.
