3 men robbed at gunpoint in Central Park; Police arrest 3 suspects

Three men were robbed at gunpoint early Monday morning in Central Park, leading to the arrest of three suspects. One suspect remains at large.
The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on East Drive in Central Park. Police say a 15-year-old, a 21-year-old and a 25-year-old were approached by four men. One of the suspects displayed what appeared to be a weapon and demanded their belongings. The group of suspects then took a chain and a pair of AirPods from the victims before fleeing the scene.
Shortly after the robbery, police canvassed the area and arrested three males near the scene. Charges against them are still pending.
This incident comes amid a sharp increase in robberies within Central Park. NYPD crime statistics show that robberies in the park have risen by about 200% in 2024, with 30 documented cases so far this year, compared to just 10 in 2023. Felony assaults in the park have also increased by 42.9% over the same period.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are still searching for the fourth suspect involved in the robbery.
