Millions to be reinvested into NYC education and youth programs, Mayor Adams says
More money is coming to New York City's education system, according to officials.

Mayor Eric Adams announced a massive set of investments into New York City's education system Tuesday.
Some of those funds are directly being restored from initial cuts that were coming to the education budget. Schools with declining enrollment will receive a majority of that $75 million, with more going towards other education initiatives.
Teacher recruitment, restorative justice programming, computer science, digital resources and tutoring programs will receive $32 million in funding.
The mayor says the city is also restoring $20 million in the Summer Rising program and other youth and community development programs across the city.
Faculty members and parents of students at M.S. 391 in Fordham are in agreeance that this increase in funding is essential for the kids. The principal of the school says some students saw years' worth of progress in just 12 weeks of tutoring.
"I feel good because the kids get more opportunity, they get a place to stay where they can participate in sports and activities that way they don't stay on the street," said parent Franchesca Restetuyo.
Other education programs still remain on the chopping block due to budget cuts, including school nurses and mental health support for kids. Budget negotiations begin on July 1.
