A Bronx man is facing a list of racketeering-related charges in connection to a 2022 homicide.
Authorities said 37-year-old Christian Lugo was arrested Tuesday morning and charged in connection with his leadership in a racketeering conspiracy that led to the death of a Bronx woman.
Police said 39-year-old Gloria Ortiz was shot and killed on Feb. 7, 2022 on East 137th Street between Cypress Avenue and Bruckner Boulevard.
Two other men were also injured in that shooting.
Officials with the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York and the FBI said Lugo owned Certified Auto, an auto repair shop and tow truck company on the block and used fraud and intimidation to run his business.
Authorities said Lugo and his co-conspirators used their shop to commit wire, mail and insurance fraud, as well as violence and threats to take control of the towing and auto body industry in their section of the Bronx.
Officials told News 12 Lugo could face up to life in prison.
