Millions of New Yorkers will receive inflation refund checks this fall as part of the state budget passed earlier this year.

The state says checks will be mailed out beginning in October and continue through November, with most arriving by mid-October.

To qualify, residents must have filed state income taxes in 2023. Single filers earning $75,000 or less could receive up to $200, while joint filers making $150,000 or less could get up to $400.

Gov. Kathy Hochul says the refunds are meant to help with fall expenses like school clothes and supplies.

The checks are designed to offset increased sales tax payments caused by inflation.
