Police officers at the 41st Precinct invited their community to walk for autism awareness.
The walk’s purpose was to educate and raise money for autism awareness.
In light of April being Autism Awareness Month, community groups and organizers came to the precinct to speak with residents about autism and services available for them.
Spreading this awareness is especially important to some of these officers, who have children or family members with autism.
Community members say they appreciate officers being more aware of autism because it could play a big part in a routine police stop.
The event raised about $1,500 for Autism Speaks.
