A man was fatally shot Friday night in Morrisania, according to police.
Authorities say it happened just before 6 p.m. outside his apartment building at East 164th Street and Washington Avenue.
The victim is identified as 46-year-old James Gaines.
Gaines was shot in his neck and transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. The shooter remains at large.
A lit candle was placed at the site of the shooting.
