Gov. Andrew Cuomo's office delivered 500 doses of the coronavirus vaccine to God's Battalion of Prayer Church in East Flatbush Wednesday as part of a push to vaccinate seniors and people of color in the community.
The vaccination drive was held by the organization Somos in partnership with volunteer nurses from Elder Plan.
The people who got vaccinated Wednesday had to make appointments. Many people News 12 spoke with said trying to get the appointment anywhere was very difficult.
The doses did arrive a little later than anticipated.
Somos said it is asking the state for more vaccines. It says that organizations like theirs are well trusted among the communities, allowing them to better reach people and vaccinate them.
