5K in Edenwald puts spotlight on gun violence, health in the community

Bronx residents participated in a 5K run in recognition of Gun Violence Awareness Month.
The event was hosted by Council Member Kevin Riley in partnership with the Northeast Bronx YMCA.
People of all ages wore orange shirts Saturday morning as the event kicked off on the streets of Edenwald.
In addition to supporting a good cause, the event also helped back the YMCA’s effort to provide a safe environment for families in at-risk neighborhoods.
Riley believes the event is an important contribution to the community.
“We wanted to focus on health and mobilizing in the community,” he said.
