6-point plan hopes to reduce MTA delays
The MTA will be implementing a new plan it says will reduce train delays.
The six-point plan includes new subway cars - 750 of them across New York City. The MTA says its improvement plan also targets track and signal issues, enhancing police activity and track designs and reorganizing the MTA's leadership structure.
The corporation says there have been an average of seven major incidents per month at 149th Street and Grand Concourse and at Third Avenue and 138th Street, which delay at least 50 trains.
The MTA says new equipment and a change in the way it operates is key to helping fix what many see as a broken and outdated system.
The plan will roll out in phases over the next six months.
