A 68-year-old woman was fatally struck by an MTA bus Tuesday, police say.
A Manhattan-bound MTA bus was driving at the intersection of Kappock Street and Johnson Avenue at 8:30 p.m. when it hit Ruth Mullen, according to police.
The intersection is a concern to almost every person News 12 spoke with.
Sources tell News 12 the driver of the bus is being withheld from further service at this time and will undergo fitness for duty tests.
The NYC Transit president responded in a statement saying, "Our condolences and deepest sympathy go out to the family of the woman who did not survive an incident involving a bus in the Riverdale section of the Bronx. It's heartbreaking. We won't rest until the facts and cause are determined."
