A 73-year-old Bronx man is in critical condition after he was run over by a hit-and-run driver in Mount Vernon, police say.
James Blake, of the Bronx, was with his nephew in Mount Vernon Saturday helping a friend with some home renovations when the incident occurred.
The father of five and grandfather of 16 was getting something out of the trunk of his car when another car coming southbound on South Columbus Avenue struck him and sped off.
Blake's nephew says a four-door, green-colored Nissan hit his uncle then sped away.
Blake is currently in the ICU at Jacobi Medical Center, with a broken leg, broken nose and multiple fractures to the face.
Mount Vernon police are investigating.
