407ds agoThe seventh Guns Down Game Up basketball tournament took place in Soundview Sunday.
Many families turned up to the playground on Story Avenue to participate in the event that aims to discourage violence.
Activities included free food, drinks, school supplies, a bounce house and a gaming truck.
Members of the NYPD’s 43rd Precinct were also present at the event.
Organizer Christopher Hill has been a member of the community for over 30 years. He hopes this annual event can spread positivity and make an impact.
"A lot of things are happening, people watching TV, people getting robbed and killed. Everything happening every day, and this here brings the community and brings everybody together,” he said.
