There's nothing better than watching the Super Bowl, or the commercials, on a big screen television.

But with less than a week to go before kickoff - is now the time to invest in a new flat-screen?

TVs at the stores have been out for a year. If you don't need all the bells and whistles, you can get a good deal on those models.

Some retailers will offer followers early notifications of sales.

Before making a TV purchase you really need to see the picture and sound quality in person. If you want to comparison shop online after you see the TV, you may be able to save a few bucks.

Many retailers do not carry the exact same model making it very hard for you to comparison shop or price match. Try to look at the individual features of the model you want and see if you can find it cheaper.

Some retailers will give you a price adjustment within a certain amount of time if the price drops. It's up to you to keep checking.

Is there an extra charge? Do you have to pay hefty amounts if you buy online? It all adds up!

Most insiders say it's a waste of money. Extended warranties and protection plans are good for the retailer and not for you. Most manufacturers will warrantee their sets for a certain amount of time and take care of the repair or even replace it.
