Car thefts are on the rise according to new data released by AAA, and Bronx residents are a part of that stat.
The NYPD reports over 2,200 cases of grand larceny of an auto this year and over 100 just last week. Bronx residents tell News 12 they've experienced break-ins resulting in broken windows, stolen items and even their cars missing in the morning.
AAA recommends the following for prevention:
Make sure windows are up and doors are locked
Park in well-lit areas
Take your valuables with you
Buy a tracking device
Keep key fobs as far away from your car as possible
