Whether you're going on a trip or a staycation, AAA is providing what travelers need to know for Memorial Day weekend.
AAA says many people will be hitting the roads this weekend. For those staying local, the MTA has announced there will be some changes. MTA officials say they will be adding extra LIRR, Metro-North and Staten Island railroad services Friday afternoon. All trains will run on a weekend/Sunday schedule on Monday.
For those planning to take the train to Coney Island, there will be no F train service between Church Avenue and Stillwell Avenue. Travelers will have to ride the D, N or the Q train.
For drivers, gas may be a concern as the New York City average now is $5, according to GasBuddy.com. In Brooklyn, the cheapest gas can be found at Pure Energy on 10 Malcolm X Boulevard for $4.63. In the Bronx, Citgo at 3400-08 Baychester Avenue has gas priced at $4.75.
AAA says the worst times to travel for drivers today are between 12 p.m. and 7 p.m. They recommend waiting until after 9 p.m.
