A puppy who was left tied to a pole in Belmont is now looking for her forever home.

The black puppy was found curled up between two cars in the road and chained to a fence across from 2175 Belmont Ave. on Monday morning.

Jennifer Rodriguez got a call from a friend who found the dog.

"She was very scared, frightened, growling a lot, and just terrified. I don't understand how people can get pets and just abandon them," said Rodriguez.

Rodriguez, who is an animal foster for Waldo Rescue sprang into action and took the pup to the vet.

While she was given a clean bill of health, the dog did not have a microchip or an information to track down her owners.

"I currently come across dogs on Facebook groups that people post, or they abandon, if I know the area I will go, try and rescue the dog, and bring them to any animal rescue center that has space, normally they don't have space," said Rodriguez.

Rodriguez brought her to her friend Lisa Encarnacion's dog boutique, Dog-Bizz on City Island, where she is now temporarily staying.

"Leaving a dog on the street....It doesn't have a chance at all, there are so many things that can happen to it, the 45 Precinct here will also take a lot of dogs that are missing or abandoned, you have a lot of options of where you can drop the dog, do not leave it in the street," said Encarnacion.

While the pup does not yet have a name, Rodriguez and Encarnacio are looking for a temporary foster home or an adopter for the pup.

"There is no information on her, she is available, I am still looking for the correct owner, if they can bring proof to show it was their dog in case she was lost, stolen... If not, she is available for adoption," said Rodriguez.

They are working with a rescue who will provide food, vaccines and microchips for the puppy before she is rehomed.

If you are interested you can contact the Dog-Bizz.
