Activists in Canarsie made a pledge Sunday to help youth in the community turn away from violence and promote safety and peace.
The Take Back Our Children Foundation was started by the mother of 16-year-old Carlton Locksley Bennett, an aspiring soccer player and engineer killed nearly 30 years ago for a gold chain during a robbery.
She's asking other adults in the community to reach out a helping hand to young people.
