Activists in Brooklyn rallied at Grand Army Plaza on the first day of Climate Week NYC Monday to call for immediate action in combating climate change.
The rally was organized by parents, educators and children,  all of whom worked together to show how climate change is already affecting the city of water.
They are calling on Sen. Chuck Schumer and the rest of the Democratic Party to pass an aggressive climate agenda they say needs to meet the scale of the crisis.
They’re specifically demanding that Congress end fossil fuel subsidies and direct more funding to front-line communities, and pass a clean electricity standard.
There will be climate strikes, protests and rallies around the city all week.
