A law firm that represents more than 15,000 members of the 9/11 response community has donated  thousands of masks and meals to first responders and health care workers across the city.
Barasch and McGarry partnered with the Feal Good Foundation to create a lunch donation program.
"It came to our attention these people are working 12-hour shifts at a minimum," says Michael Barasch, partner at Barasch and McGarry. "And many of the times they're just eating their meals out of vending machines."
So far, the program has donated more than 1,200 lunches and dinners to almost 40 hospitals and nursing homes in New York and New Jersey.
They have also donated about 50,000 masks to every firehouse in New York City, as well as other first responders.
"When you have a health crisis like this, you have to focus special attention on the community that needs it most," says James Steiner, an attorney at Barasch and McGarry. "So we're so happy that we're able to give back now."
The law firm and the nonprofit plan on continuing with donations until the pandemic is over.
