AeroCamp gives teens a flight path to the future
As part of the camp, students tour the airport's terminal, visiting areas most travelers never see.

A unique summer camp is helping local teens look to the skies - and maybe even their future careers.
News 12 visited AeroCamp, where campers, like 15-year-old Bennett Delatore, are getting a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the aviation world at Long Island MacArthur Airport in Ronkonkoma.
“My first year, my jaw was on the ground the whole time,” Delatore said.
As part of the camp, students tour the airport's terminal, visiting areas most travelers never see. “We always go through the nooks and crannies of this terminal,” he added.
AeroCamp’s mission is to introduce young people to the many career paths in aviation and aerospace. On Tuesday, campers received presentations from TSA agents, Southwest Airlines employees, airport fire rescue teams and pilots.
Eileen Frappied, with Long Island MacArthur Airport, has helped guide several of the airport tours this summer and hopes programs like this will inspire the next generation of aviation professionals.
