There is a new recommendation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention if you have not gotten the COVID-19 vaccine yet.
Health officials say people between the ages of 12 and 39 should consider waiting eight weeks between getting the first and second shot to decrease the risk of possible heart inflammation.
The previous guidance was waiting between three to four weeks, depending on if you got the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine.
According to the Department of Health and Human Service, the risk of developing heart inflammation is lower from the vaccines compared to after getting COVID-19.
With the COVID-19 numbers continuing to trend down, some changes could be coming to New York City.
Mayor Eric Adams says he supports rolling back some of the city's COVID-19 vaccine passport requirements as long as health officials sign off on the move. Adams did not put a timetable on any potential policy adjustments.
Meanwhile, the positivity rate has fallen below 2% to 1.9% across the state.
On Long Island, the seven-day average went up slightly to 2.12%.
The total hospitalizations statewide has dropped to 2,400 patients.
