Alert Center: Mount Vernon man sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for fatal 2020 shooting

A Mount Vernon man was sentenced Friday to 25 years to life in prison for the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old in 2020.
The Westchester District Attorney's Office says 38-year-old Negus Kirton was convicted of second-degree murder in the shooting of Michael Toro.
Police say the killing was in retaliation for Toro stabbing Kirton's brother a few months before.
Kirton was also convicted of criminal possession of a weapon.
