The man accused of striking a woman twice during a hit-and-run last week is in police custody.
Alex Hernandez was walked in handcuffs from the 40th Precinct Wednesday afternoon after turning himself in the night before.
The 25-year-old is accused of hitting 50-year-old Christina Aybar on East 138th Street and Bruckner Boulevard on Aug. 18, then backing up and running over her again before fleeing the scene.
Police had released surveillance video of the white Chevy Impala that they say he was driving. The abandoned vehicle was discovered days later in Mount Vernon.
Hernandez is now facing several charges, including vehicular assault and failure to report an accident.
Meanwhile, the victim remains in critical condition at Lincoln Hospital.
