A 103-year-old Bronx woman has been reunited with her home health aide after she was told her service would be cut off with no warning.
As of Tuesday, Turner and her aide from Fidelis Care have been reunited.
"I am so excited and so happy," said Turner. "I got very upset and I felt very awful, bad, because she's a beautiful person and she's wonderful to be around."
In a statement, Fidelis Care said, "Like other community partners and neighbors in the Bronx, Fidelis Care empathizes with Sarah Turner's situation. Although we are unable to confirm if an individual is enrolled as a member, or discuss details of someone's insurance benefits, we can say that eligibility for Managed Long Term Care coverage is determined by the New York City Human Resources Administration/Department of Social Services – not Fidelis Care or any other health plan. Further, Fidelis Care does not directly employ home health care aides. It is the responsibility of a home health care agency to coordinate care. We have reached out to Ms. Turner and her family to provide assistance – as we would with any individual seeking information about health insurance."
