Rockland County officials are warning residents that the area is under a high fire danger.
The status means fires can start easily.
The Department of Environmental Conservation says there have already been wildfires this month in Haverstraw and Highlands.
The department has tips on how you can prevent forest fires. It says you should use a campfire ring and build any fires away from steep slopes, overhanging branches and dry leaves or grass.
The department also says to put out campfires with water instead of waiting for it to die down.
