A Bridgeport grandmother is facing eviction from what she says is the only home that she has ever known, and she's hoping her story will help others.
"I'm here with my three children and my three grandchildren and I don't want to leave," Karyn Timmons says.
Timmons claims that she has enough money to settle the debt at the heart of her eviction but is still waiting to hear if her appeal was successful. If not, she says she'll be forced from her home in just a few days.
"One of the problems with situations like Karyn's is that it starts out on a small scale, and before you know it, they are overwhelmed with the debt, with all the problems — physically, financially, emotionally," says Bridgeport attorney Mark Arons.
He adds that Timmons' story is a classic example of what thousands of Connecticut residents are going through as an epidemic of evictions grips many parts of the country.
