Family day and fall festival held at Half-Nelson playground
Council Member Pierina Sanchez hosted a family day and fall festival Saturday at Half-Nelson playground.
"I’m really excited to be hosting this event. It's really important to activate our small parks. This is one of the smaller parks in the district but hey, we have a bouncy house in here. We’ve got a lot of activities for the kids, resources for families and it’s a family day,” Sanchez said.
Children enjoyed the bouncy house, glitter tattoos, making Thanksgiving-themed crafts, and spin art.
"I got my face painted and I feel like this is a cool place and it’s an amazing place to be,” said Isabel Ceballos, of Morris Heights.
There was also a DJ playing music and some popcorn and cotton candy as snacks.
Various organizations came out to support families through the arts, affordable housing, and health. There was also a map of the area surrounding the Bronx Expressway. Community members were encouraged to pinpoint areas of concern, so elected officials can improve the area.
