A large fire has engulfed at least three buildings on Johnson Avenue in Newark.

The fire started shortly after 9 a.m.

According to officials, the three-alarm fire started in a vacant home, but then spread to the adjacent two homes.

All of the homes have been significantly damaged.

Everyone evacuated safety.

The fire chief says two firefighters suffered minor injuries.
