New York City launched a new initiative Tuesday to help transition thousands of asylum seekers into the workforce.
Mayor Eric Adams announced the opening of an asylum application help center in midtown. Lawyers and assistants at the center will help those seeking asylum with their asylum applications and obtaining work authorization.
Application assistance is by appointment only, and the mayor is encouraging New Yorkers interested in working at the center to apply immediately.
