Officials say a fire broke out on the second floor of a Belmont apartment building Thursday afternoon.

Flames were seen shooting out of the windows at 2363 Southern Blvd. just after 5 p.m.

Fire officials say 11 people were injured, three of whom were firefighters.

It was not immediately clear what sparked the fire.
