Officials are investigating the first cases of orthopoxvirus in Washington, D.C.

The virus is in a family of viruses, which includes monkeypox.

The news of the orthopoxvirus case comes as the Biden administration is trying to get more people vaccinated against monkeypox.

The Biden administration gave out 1,200 doses of the vaccine to those at high risk for exposure.
