One year later, News 12 is looking back at the pandemic through the eyes of the scientists saving lives.

Pfizer was the first company to reach the finish line with a COVID-19 vaccine that's over 90% effective in adults. Just this week, it was reported to be 100% effective in children ages 12 to 15.

In an exclusive interview, two of Pfizer's female scientists who laid the foundation for developing that vaccine opened up to News 12's Beth Cefalu about this past year.

Kena Swanson, a viral vaccines research director for Pfizer, and Kristin Tompkins, a viral vaccines research principal scientist for Pfizer, spoke about their work and what is feels like to be women leading the charge.
