Some
local lawmakers are calling for a second impeachment of President Donald Trump,
saying that he incited the violence that led to the breach of the U.S. Capitol
building on Wednesday.
One of
those calling for impeachment is Rep. Mondaire Jones, who says he
"could not have imagined a darker day for Democracy."
"Donald
Trump has incited violence against the legislative branch of the United State
Government, encouraging thousands of his supporters to storm the Capitol, and
must be impeached again."
Rep.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted out the word, "Impeach" which has
gained hundreds of thousands of likes.
Just
after Trump supporters breached both the House and Senate chambers of the
Capitol building, where a woman was fatally shot, Rep. Ilhan Omar, of
Minnesota, said she was "drawing up articles of impeachment."
The
president was impeached last year after calling on Ukraine to investigate Joe
Biden and his son, Hunter.
