Aquarion Water Company is asking some residents to continue conserving water amid stage two drought conditions in some areas. 

State officials say Connecticut is still in a Stage 2 drought.

Aquarion is reminding customers in 13 towns that they're under a mandatory, twice-weekly irrigation schedule until October, 31.

The water schedule is observed annually since 2017.

In Fairfield County, those towns include Darien, Fairfield, Greenwich, New Canaan, Newtown, Stamford and Westport.

Aquarion is also asking customers outside of the 13 towns to adjust their lawn mowers to a higher setting, adjust sprinklers to water just the lawn and garden, not the street or sidewalk, use hand watering or drip irrigation for flowers and shrubs, and delay new plantings until the fall.

And when it comes to doing things around the house, turn off the water while lathering up, shaving, or brushing your teeth, minimize baths, trim one minute off the length of your showers, wash only full loads in your dishwasher and washing machine, and hand wash dishes in a pan or the sink, not under continuous running water.

Aquarion says customers can follow more tips to conserve water. 

State officials will meet again on Aug. 18 to reassess Connecticut drought conditions.
