? The New York Archdiocese announced Friday which Bronx Catholic schools will stay open and which ones will close their doors, causing students to transfer.
The archdiocese says Saint Mary Star of the Sea, Saint Anthony and Saint Martin of Tours will continue to serve students. However, Our Lady of Solace will close and students will be transferred to nearby schools. Church leaders have promised parents other Catholic schools will make room for displaced children.
The closings are part of a regional realignment that originally included a proposal to shut down 15 parishes and 14 schools throughout New York City. The archdiocese will make a decision in the coming weeks on which parishes will close.
