Fellow artists and loved ones gathered Monday to remember graffiti artist Alfredo “PerOne” Oyague in the Bronx.
The beloved artist died last week at the age of 56 from health complications.
His death comes as shock to many. He was set to host an international event for artists in the coming days.
Those same artists are honoring PerOne with a mural, a small token to remember him for his contributions to the art world and the Bronx.
"It makes me very sad because he is not here to see this, but it makes his mom very proud,” says Lourdes Perez, PerOne’s aunt. “We want to thank especially the crew, this is an international crew and we're very happy that they did this tribute for him."
PerOne started his career in Soundview when he was just 14 years old.
Viewing services will take place 1:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at Thomas C. Montera Funeral Home in the Bronx.
