The ?Arts in Transit? project is bringing original artwork into subway stations throughout the Bronx. The project requires stations undergoing renovation to include artwork. Artists compete for their work to be displayed. The MTA recently chose 27 artists. The subway station on 174th Street and Southern Boulevard is one of the featured stops. All of the winners? original renditions are on display in Lehman College?s fine arts gallery. Some of the art is created from recycled materials, some are paintings and some included pieces of wood. The gallery exhibit will be open until May 16.
