Parents of P.S. 16 students packed the school's auditorium Thursday following two alarming incidents.
Principal John Morales sent a letter home to parents Wednesday and held the emergency meeting following the events. According to administrators, a man tried to kidnap two girls in his car near the Carpenter Avenue school Tuesday. They also say he exposed himself to the girls, who ran away.
Parents say they are disturbed by another incident that took place Wednesday. According to parents, a man punched a fourth-grade girl in the face and held a knife to her throat near the portable classrooms behind the school.
Some parents complain the school needs better security, especially near the portable classrooms. Morales is organizing a parent patrol for the time being.
