Police are asking for the public’s help to find the man who they say assaulted a 21-year-old man in Mount Eden.
It happened around 5 p.m. on Sept. 5 near Jerome Avenue and Elliot Place, which is located about three blocks from the 44th Precinct.
Police said the attacker approached the victim, hit him in the face with a wooden stick and then rode off on a moped. The NYPD released surveillance video of the man they’re searching for. Video of the attack was not included.
It is unclear what led to the assault. Some residents said they do not feel safe in the busy area.
“I’ve lived over here for like 10 years, and nothing [like] this has happened before,” said Michael Castillo. “It’s very strange that this kind of thing is happening now. I don’t know what’s going on with this city.”
The attacker is described as having long hair with a ponytail. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt, darks shorts and blue sneakers. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
