Authorities say a New York City woman has died after she was rescued from a lake in Ulster County.
The Rosendale Police Department says they responded to Williams Lake Thursday afternoon.
They learned that 81-year-old Carol Smith went underwater while swimming and had not resurfaced.
Police say they found Smith, an avid swimmer, approximately 30 feet away from shore.

However, Smith died several hours later at a hospital in Kingston.
