A Bronx man is accused of leading Westchester County police on a dangerous chase Tuesday morning.
The incident happened around 1:20 a.m. when Pleasantville police say a car they tried to stop for a traffic violation sped away on Route 117.
County police spotted the car soon after heading southbound on the Sprain Brook Parkway near Jackson Avenue. The driver did not cooperate with the officer trying to stop it, authorities say.
Police say the car ended up on the westbound Cross County Parkway where it collided with the concrete divider on the exit ramp and eventually crashed into the center median near Yonkers Avenue.
The suspect, Angel Santana, 22, ran into a nearby wooded area, where he was taken into custody. He was then taken to Westchester Medical Center after complaining of pain from the crash.
Santana faces charges including reckless driving and criminal possession of stolen property. Police say he had stolen items from Pleasantville and New Castle – possibly from Postal Service mailboxes.
