A multi-vehicle crash in the Wakefield section of the Bronx
injured at least nine people Saturday morning, authorities said.
The incident occurred at the intersection of East 233rd
Street and Bronx Boulevard.
Rescue crews were on the scene where the back of an SUV was
crushed and a front bumper from another vehicle was in the middle of the
street. It’s not clear how many cars were involved in the crash.
The nine injured people were taken to NYC Health +
Hospitals/Jacobi. Initial reports said there may have been a several children
among the injured, but that has not yet been confirmed.
The scene has since been cleared. There was no word yet on
what caused the crash or the extent of the injuries.
