A suspicious device sent to CNN's New York headquarters in Manhattan Wednesday was brought to a shooting range at Rodman's Neck for examination.
Officials said none of the apparent explosives went off and that no one was hurt. Authorities have been carefully and strategically handling the threat, taking the explosive found at CNN to the Bronx peninsula.
Suspicious packages were also sent to Hillary and Bill Clinton, former President Barack Obama and more.
Two NYPD emergency vehicles arrived at Rodman's Neck Wednesday afternoon. One of them was a total containment vessel, or simply a bomb truck, designed to absorb the blast of an explosive should it go off in transit. Rodman's Neck not only serves as a shooting range for law enforcement personnel, but it's also where the NYPD is known to defuse explosives.
The facility remained busy throughout the day, with a lot of traffic moving in and out. Counterterrorism officers remained on scene, checking each vehicle that entered and turning away some people who were not authorized to be there.
Officials said the explosive device would be taken to an FBI testing lab after its time at Rodman's Neck.
The FBI and other law enforcement agencies are now involved in a full-scale investigation to identify those responsible for carrying out what New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has called an act of terror.
