A 22-year-old Plainfield man is facing charges related to a sexual assault and home invasion in Westfield.
The Union County Prosecutor’s Office says that Terence Rhue has been charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault, first-degree robbery, second-degree burglary and weapons charges.
Westfield police say the incident happened Tuesday afternoon at a home on Forest and Longfellow avenues. They say Rhue broke into the home and assaulted the woman inside. He was allegedly armed at the time.
The attack left many residents in the community on edge. Westfield police increased patrols in the area while the suspect was located.
“We are grateful for the collaboration with the local and State law enforcement agencies who assisted our Office in quickly locating and apprehending the suspect,” Prosecutor William Daniel said in a statement.
Rhue is currently being held at the Union County Jail pending a court hearing.
