A man involved in a deadly 2020 East New York gang shooting that killed an unarmed 18-year-old has been sentenced to 23 years to life in prison.
Malik Bacchus was convicted of murder and other charges in October. Prosecutors say he stole a car from a food delivery driver and opened fire on Shamell Boomer, an alleged member of a rival gang, in the lobby of the Sunburn Hotel in East New York.
The Brooklyn District Attorney says the shooting was one of just 19 shootings connected to the Woo and Choo gangs since 2020.
