Authorities warn of delays, road closures in Brooklyn and Manhattan as protesters take to streets
New York City authorities are notifying residents to expect traffic delays, road closures, transit disruptions and a heavy police presence in parts of Brooklyn and Manhattan this evening due to protest activity.
The notification issued by the city's Emergency Management office listed the Manhattan Bridge and Brooklyn Bridge as areas expected to see activity, and said protesters were expected to march toward the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Residents were urged to consider alternate routes and allow for additional travel time.
Videos taken by News 12 reporters in different parts of Brooklyn Saturday showed large, peaceful crowds near the Barclays Center and other areas.
Protests over the death of George Floyd have continued in New York City through the week. An 8 p.m. curfew remains in effect.
