‘Ballin’ 4 Peace’ - Bronx softball game pits celebrities against NYPD

While the Yankees are in Miami, another game across the street from their stadium is drawing crowds Saturday night.
A softball game is being held at Macombs Dam Park – one team made up of figures from music and television, the other is members of the NYPD.
Some celebrity players include Jermel Howard, from Power, producer Amadeus and Brooklyn Rapper K Goddess. Organizers at “Ballin’ 4 Peace” have been hosting events like this around the city over the last seven years, and while in the past it’s been basketball or bowling, Saturday’s event is the first softball game to date.
Organizers say no matter the sport, the mission remains the same: Give people something free and fun to do while opening a spark of dialogue between members of law enforcement and the neighbors they serve.
“Ballin' 4 Peace” is also raising money at the event for a brand-new scholarship and also plans to donate the equipment after the game to children in Uganda.
