Anthonya Campbell was one of five people shot in Haffen Park on Aug. 23.
(09/19/25) The life of 17-year-old Anthonya Campbell will be honored at Haffen Park tonight where she spent the final moments of her life.
Campbell was one of five people shot in Haffen Park on Aug. 23 and the youngest of all the victims. She was days away from her first day of school.
Tonight, a balloon release will be held by her family, friends, and neighbors to honor her memory.
The family described the 17-year-old as a loving girl who had a lot of life left to live. Campbell died last week on Sept. 11 after weeks of fighting to stay alive.
News 12 spoke with her family earlier this month who said a bullet remained lodged behind her eye. They fought for the teen to be transferred out of Jacobi Hospital after they say she wasn't getting the proper care there.
Campbell was one of the victims from the deadly mass shooting that happened at a back-to-school basketball event. Campbell is the second to die from injuries. Jaciel Banks, 32, also died after he was shot in the chest.
Police arrested four men, including two teens who are 16 and 17 years old. All four are charged with murder, and three are facing gang assault and weapon charges.
